Overview

Our Mission
The St. Louis County Depot is a landmark cornerstone of arts and cultural organizations that entertains, educates, inspires, and provides space for a diverse group of guests. The St. Louis County Depot provides new, engaging experiences; is a destination and a community center; and fosters community through education and entertainment that enhances the quality of life for visitors.

St. Louis County Owned
The Depot is owned by St. Louis County and appreciates the strong relationship we have built over the years in becoming known as the St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center. In addition, the Depot and its member organizations are deeply grateful for the ongoing support of the Depot Foundation which, through its grant funding, helps to preserve and present the arts, history, and culture of St. Louis County.

Event & Meeting Inquires
The Depot offers a variety of versatile spaces to meet your needs, whether you’re hosting a small meeting or planning a larger event. From cozy meeting rooms equipped with virtual meeting technology, a flexible rehearsal room space, to our expansive Great Hall that accommodates up to 250 people, there’s something for everyone. Theatre Inquires
The Depot Theatre is a mid-sized modular stage with thrust capabilities and an orchestra pit with a backstage scene shop and truck load access. It features new seating for up to 275 people, with removable seats for accessibility. Rentals include necessary equipment such as soundboard, lightboard, microphones, temporary storage, box office access if available, and options for light plot changes and rigging. Tenant Inquires
If you’re part of an arts, educational, or cultural organization looking to make your mark in a new space, we welcome your interest in becoming a tenant of The Depot. To stay informed about available opportunities, keep an eye out on our website for Request for Proposals (RFPs) for certain spaces. Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra

Music has the power to transport us in time, space, and emotion. Poignant compositions can bring us to tears or make us dance with joy. It makes us remember moments we might have forgotten. Music shapes our experiences and brings us together. It moves our hearts and shakes out the cobwebs. Join us at a DSSO concert this season, and share in the joy.

The Depot Foundation

The Depot Foundation is dedicated to preserving The Depot as a vibrant and welcoming forum for the arts, culture and history through managing and growing a permanent endowment.

Lake Superior Railroad Museum

The Lake Superior Railroad Museum houses the finest collection of Railroad Equipment in the country, with interactive exhibits as well as history from the region. In the summer and fall months the museum’s North Shore Scenic Railroad offers train excursions, together the two organizations offer the richest historic experiences in railroading anywhere.

LOON provides world-class opera performance and education in the North, for all ages in a diversity of venues and formats.

Minnesota Ballet

As a premier dance company, the Minnesota Ballet will engage, enlighten and inspire the community and beyond with the beauty and passion of dance. In all of its endeavors the Minnesota Ballet advances and celebrates diversity, inclusion, and equity, which richly nourish the art of dance.

North Shore Scenic Railroad

The North Shore Scenic Railroad operates excursions along the historic Lakefront Line, a 26-mile section of rail between Duluth and Two Harbors. This rail corridor served a vital link in the transportation system for over 100 years. Visit their website to purchase tickets and review the train schedules.

St. Louis County Historical Society

Since its inception in 1922, the St. Louis County Historical Society has sought to discover,  preserve, and disseminate knowledge about the history, and prehistory, of St. Louis County as well as the state of Minnesota.​ In addition to collecting and preserving objects of material culture and historical research material, the Society operates a historical research center serving northeastern Minnesota.
